Objectives
- It is the duty of the County Auditor to audit all claims, accounts, and demands which are made "County charges" by law, and which otherwise would be audited by the Board of Legislators (Section 600, Article 15 of the County Law).
- As authorized by the Board of Legislators and\or County Administrator, to provide management with appraisals, analyses, recommendations, and pertinent comments concerning specific activities reviewed to attain as its scope:
- the detection and prevention of loss
- determine the adequacy of internal controls and operating procedures
- ascertainment of compliance with laws, regulations and management policies; and
- promotion of operating efficiency
Types Of Services, Assistance
- Financial Audits - review the reliability and integrity of financial and operating information, and the means used to identify, measure, classify and report such information.
- Compliance Audits - review the systems established to ensure compliance with those policies, plans, procedures, laws, and regulations which could have a significant impact on operations and reports, and determine whether the organization is in compliance.
- Program Audits - review operations or programs to ascertain whether results are consistent with established objectives and goals, and whether the operations or programs are being carried out as planned.
