with us. “Welfare” includes Temporary Assistance (cash assistance), Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program (SNAP/food stamps), Medicaid, Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) and
Child Care Services (day care).
The unit also investigates cases involving SNAP trafficking where individuals redeem SNAP benefits
for cash, sell their benefits to other individuals for cash, or individuals who buy food with their
benefits and resell that food to other retailers.
